I battled a very bad parasite infection for over 4 years. It seemed I would clear them only to be re-infected a few months later. Through trial and error I learned that the herbal remedies that I was taking were too weak and so I began making my own. Here is my herbal recipe. My diet at the time was the typical (SAD)standard american diet and I switched over to the Wahls Paleo Diet. You can read about my success here. I also came to learn that I was very mineral deficient and needed to heal my gut.
I have now been in complete remission from all chronic infections since November, 2014. Now I am in maintenance mode and rebuilding my body after battling Lyme Disease, parasites, EBV, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and many other things for over 20 years.
I believe that much of my parasite elimination success is due to my diet and all of the foods that I eat almost daily to ward off parasites, viruses and bacteria. The beautiful thing about using natural antiparasitic foods is that many will not just kill parasites but nourish the body at the same time. So many side benefits to treating these pathogens naturally.
1. Garlic
Garlic is known to slow and kill more than 60 types of fungi and 20 types of bacteria, as well as some of the most potent viruses known to humans. Garlic also has a history of killing parasites, controlling secondary fungal infections, detoxifying while gently stimulating elimination, and has antioxidant properties to protect against oxidation resulting from parasite toxins.
Allicin and Ajoene are the components in garlic that kill parasites (including one-cell varieties), as well as pinworms and hookworms. Allicin is not present in garlic in its natural state. When garlic is chopped or otherwise damaged, the enzyme alliinase acts on the chemical alliin contained in its fibers, converting it into allicin. Ajoene is the principal compound responsible for garlic’s anticoagulant properties and contributes to its strong odor.
2. Pumpkin seeds
Traditionally pumpkin seeds have been used as an antihelmintic (a substance that helps expel intestinal parasites). Pumpkin seeds also have a high mineral content. They are high in manganese, phosphorus, magnesium and copper. The seeds also are a good source of zinc, protein and iron. No antiparasitic drug will provide this nutritional bonus.
I love to add a tablespoon or two to my daily green smoothies.
3. Pineapple
Pineapple contains the proteolytic (able to break down particular proteins) enzyme bromelain. These help to digest worms. Very effective for roundworms and tapeworms.
I often use pineapple in my Super Healthy Green Smoothies.
4. Papaya and seeds
Papaya contains the enzyme papain which is very effective against many different types of worms. The University of Maryland Medical Center suggests making a mixture of honey and papaya seeds which has been found to clear stools of parasites.
I often use papaya and the seeds in my morning green smoothie
5. Onions
Onions contain sulfur which have anti-parasitic properties. I love to make a homemade salsa with tomatoes, onions, cilantro and lime juice. Many add hot peppers to this recipe to kick it up a notch. I eat this almost daily in Mexico. Raw onions can be added to soups, salads, egg salad and so many other dishes.
6. Jalepeno peppers
Jalapeno peppers and parasites have a long history. The peppers have been traditionally known to be extremely effective as a remedy for stomach and intestinal parasites. As the digested peppers travel through the intestinal system, the pepper substance causes all sorts of reactions that are inhospitable to foreign bacteria, killing them off and allowing the body to expel them with waste.
7. Fermented Foods
Sauerkraut, kimchee, beet kvass, kombucha, coconut and raw milk kefir are a few that will help to heal and inoculate the gut with healthy strains of bacteria. These foods help to enhance the immune system, are very nutrient dense, aid in detoxification and maintain a healthy terrain. These foods help to change the intestinal terrain so parasites are not as likely to thrive and get out of control.
8. Coconut
According to Dr. Bruce Fife, author of Coconut Cures, coconut is a very powerful antiviral, antifungal and antiparasitic food. Coconut meat has proven to be successful in expelling tapeworms & other intestinal parasites. The key to making this process work is eating an adequate amount of dried coconut. Coconut oil is also very effective against many pathogens and is a healthy saturated fat.
9. Carrots
Carrots and carrot juice are a known remedy for treating intestinal parasites. I like making a salad with grated carrots, coconut and raisins. It is not only delicious but a very powerful parasite remedy.
I try and eat many of these foods daily. I understand today how food really is our best medicine. Parasites can be very difficult to eliminate and it is important to change the terrain so that they cannot get the upper hand and cause illness and nutrient deficiency. Eating the above foods may begin to kill off some of your parasites and cause a die-off reaction. This article has many good suggestions for dealing with die-off reactions which can be quite unpleasant.
